Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 06 Aug 2015: BRVM Bourse close lower, market cap XOF 42 billion down, indices sag
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 312.28 to 306.80 points, a drop of 1.75 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 1.25 percent to 299.30 against 303.09 points previously.
The equity market capitalization plunged by XOF 42 billion to close at XOF 7,385 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,427 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was thinner today, with the total volume at 71,400 traded stocks relative to 111,554 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,367 million (against XOF 1,320 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 302 deals. Today’s top stock by volume and value was PALM COTE D’IVOIRE with 40,160 traded securities (accounted for about 56 percent of the total volume) with traded value of XOF 570.324 million. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 7.23 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.16.
Among the 31 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 12 witness price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended negative. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer by adding 5.00 percent to end at XOF 14,700. It was followed by SMB COTE D’IVOIRE with an increase of 3.87 percent at XOF 15,580 and then by UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 27,500 by adding 1.85 percent. In the fourth position was TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 1.28 percent to close at XOF 22,900 and BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 102,000 with 0.99 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the other hand, Ecobank Transnational Incorporation Togo fell by 6.67 percent to settle at XOF 56 and SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 2.81 percent to close at XOF 9,000. Likewise, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.57 percent to close at XOF 31,000 and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 1.09 percent to close at XOF 90,005. SONATEL SENEGAL closed at XOF 27,300.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.24 percent and agriculture sector index added 2.01 percent. Likewise, the distribution sector index rose by 0.57 percent to end at 526.19 points. However, financial services sector index decreased by 3.40 percent to end at 104.99 points and public utilities sector index plunged by 1.01 percent to close at 855.45 points. The transportation and miscellaneous sector indices remained unchanged to close at 901.36 and 559.26 respectively.
